Balance and Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy

Feeling dizzy or off balance is a very uncomfortable and often alarming sensation. One common cause of dizziness is an impairment of the vestibular system. This system, essential for balance and spatial orientation, consists of a small but complex unit inside each ear that connects to structures such as the eyes, brain, and muscles. When this system is disrupted, it can affect posture, movement, and eye stability. At our clinic, we offer specialized balance and vestibular rehabilitation to help restore stability and reduce symptoms of dizziness.

What to Expect: Your First Visit and Beyond

Your treatment begins with a comprehensive evaluation on day one. This includes an assessment of eye movements, head and body position, balance control, gait analysis, and neurological screening. This helps pinpoint the root cause of your symptoms—whether it stems from your inner ear, nervous system, or musculoskeletal system.

Individualized Treatment for Lasting Results

Once your diagnosis is confirmed, your therapist will develop a customized balance and vestibular rehabilitation plan. Depending on your condition, treatment may include:

  • Canalith repositioning maneuvers (e.g., Epley maneuver) for BPPV

  • Gaze stabilization exercises to retrain eye movement and reduce dizziness

  • Balance retraining and postural control exercises to help you feel steady and confident

  • Habituation exercises to gradually decrease sensitivity to motion

  • Strengthening and coordination exercises to reduce fall risk

  • Education and home exercise programs to support your progress outside the clinic
